Library Week!

This week is National Library Week! Libraries are associated with tall shelves of musty, old books. Someone who doesn’t use them very often might assume that they’ve become irrelevant, but that simply isn’t true. Many people don’t know that many modern libraries not only lend out current best sellers, but they also lend recent movies, e-books, E-READERS (you read that right!), music CDs, and free or reduced price passes to fun attractions! More rarely, some libraries even lend out TELESCOPES, of all things! Many libraries also allow digital access to content that could otherwise be very costly. In addition, many libraries host activities and community events, including free movie screenings!

Contrary to popular wisdom, not all information can be found online. Even when it can be, it can sometimes be more difficult to find obscure information online than it is to simply borrow a book. The untrained researcher is also more vulnerable to bad information on the internet than they would be to bad information in a library. Always remember- Google results are ranked by popularity, not accuracy!

As a parent, you should really consider using your local public library if you don’t already. Everyone knows that it’s good to read to your children, and your local library may also offer public storybook readings, children’s movie screenings, children’s activities, and more!

We invite prospective parents to drop on by any of our preschool locations nationwide and see why Childcare Network is more than just a day care.
