Barbershop Quartet Day!

iStock-503914083 Believe it or not around 25,000 men in North America are members of an organization called the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. If you have no idea what barbershop quartets are, you’re probably in good company considering that there’s an organization with a really long name trying to save them!

Barbershop quartets are acapella groups with four members each, usually men. They stand on sidewalks (or wherever), making people feel like they’re in the 1900s, singing songs Pentatonix-style, minus the beat-boxing. Maybe it’s because they’re limited to four members, or maybe it’s because they don’t beat-box, but they’ve been struggling for acknowledgement since the 1920s.

Today, consider giving them some acknowledgement by looking up barbershop quartet videos on Youtube, or consider your mission completed as a result of reading this post! Of course, you can also make a post on social media. It will probably create either curiosity or laughter; either one is good!

We invite prospective parents to drop on by any of our preschool locations nationwide and see why Childcare Network is more than just a day care.
