Caribbean Day!

By: Kate Quattlebaum

Summer is probably the best time to listen to The Beach Boys, and if you’re a fan of theirs, you’ve probably heard the song “Kokomo.” It sounds like a delightful place, doesn’t it? If only it were real! According to Entertainment Weekly, it’s a fictional place that was invented just for the song.

Fortunately, many places in the Caribbean are pretty much Kokomo minus the name. “Aruba, Jamaica, oh I want to take ya?” Those are real! The Caribbean is a beautiful and diverse region filled with beautiful beaches and cultures. There are 26 Caribbean countries, including Anguilla, Barbados, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, to name a few.

To celebrate Caribbean day, you could learn more about the different islands and where they’re located. You could also make local dishes found in the Caribbean such as jerk chicken or fried plantains.

We invite prospective parents to drop on by any of our preschool locations nationwide and see why Childcare Network is more than just a day care.
