These books are carefully selected by our education specialists to use a variety of experience to connect emerging language and literacy with social-emotional development.

This month, our Infant through 2 year olds classrooms are reading Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton. Featuring a sweet and cuddly doggie cast and rhyming verse, Snuggle Puppy is a book with an ending that kids will want to hear again and again!

The 3 year old to school aged classrooms are reading I Am Peace Words and Your Heart by Kate Jane Neal. This book is about your heart. The words we listen to can affect how we feel. Some words can do amazing things and make us happy. And some words can really hurt us. Our words have power, and we can choose to use them to make the world a better place. Simple, direct, and emotive, Words and Your Heart’s message is that words have extraordinary power – to harm and to heal; to create and to destroy; and to spread love.

Stayed tuned for some more reading fun! Along with each book, several book-related activities are provided to reinforce the social-emotional skill. Follow-up questions are also included as well to assist with reading comprehension.

We invite prospective parents to drop on by any of our preschool locations nationwide and see why Childcare Network is more than just a day care.
