Lighthouse Day!

By: Kate Quattlebaum

Today is dedicated to the silent, but bright, guardians of our coastlines and ships. It’s Lighthouse Day! In 1989, Congress passed a resolution designating this day to recognizing the importance of lighthouses.

A lighthouse is a tower, building, or structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses to help ships navigate coastlines and waterways. The earliest lighthouse was built in 1586 in St. Augustine, FL. Thanks to GPS technology and radar systems, lighthouses are becoming less important.

To celebrate today, you could visit a local lighthouse if you live near the coast. If you are unable to visit a lighthouse, you could build you own miniature lighthouse!

We invite prospective parents to drop on by any of our preschool locations nationwide and see why Childcare Network is more than just a day care.
