Before modern inventions, our clothes were sewn together by hand, using a needle and thread. Now, thanks to modern technology our clothes are made more easily using sewing machines. Today is all about celebrating these essential tools, it’s Sewing Machine Day.

The sewing machine was invented and patented in 1829 by Barthelemy Thimonnier and the textile industry was revolutionized! Since its invention, the sewing machine has improved from a foot-powered needle to programmable embroidery machines.

Celebrate today by enjoying sewing! If you’ve never sewn before, find a friend or family member who has and ask them to teach you. If you already know how to sew, teach the people in your life that don’t know how and spread the love with a needle and thread!
