Summer Safety Tips

By: Nicole Wheeler

Now that summer has arrived, we are all very excited to take breaks, go on vacations and enjoy the warm weather with our families; however, with summer comes increased risks of danger for ourselves and our children. With more time spent outside and temperatures reaching deadly highs, everyone needs to remember the rules of safety during this time of the year.

At Childcare Network, we are going above and beyond to ensure the safety of our students while they are in our care. We also want to share important facts and reminders to our families to keep in mind while the children are outside of the classroom.

Tips for Car Safety

The Shoe Trick: Every time you place your child in their car seat, place your left shoe in the back seat as well. This way, you will always have to go in the back seat to retrieve your shoe and be aware of your child's presence. Watch Video Here

Set an Alarm: Set an alarm on your phone to go off at the same time every day, right around the time you get to work or a few minutes before.

Precious Cargo App: Download the Precious Cargo app on your smartphone. The app is simple - when you get into the car and Bluetooth is activated, the app sends a message asking "Will you be traveling with Precious Cargo?" If the answer is "yes," then the child's name is added. If the answer is no, the app is deactivated until the car turns on again. With a "yes" answer, the app again sends the user a message that is a reminder of the "precious cargo" in the backseat when the car turns off. If your car is not equipped with Bluetooth technology, the app can provide GPS location finders and timed reminders to make saving lives as easy as possible.
